Linda Heilman, 60, Minot, went to see the Lord on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, in Minot.
Linda Lou Blair was born May 23, 1953, to Don and Clarine (Lund) Blair, in Minot. She was raised in Minot along with her older sister, Dianna.
Linda graduated from Minot High School in 1971. The summer after her first year at Minot State University, she met her future husband, Ken Heilman. Once she had transferred and completed her four-year degree at the University of North Dakota, in Grand Forks, Linda married the love of her life on June 18, 1977.
Ken and Linda set up roots in Minot and had their only child, Joshua, on March 7, 1984. She loved Josh more than life itself. Ken and Linda spent many years attending Josh’s basketball, football and Linda’s favorite baseball games. She had many proud and fond memories of these games and events.
Besides Josh and Ken, Linda loved many things. She enjoyed traveling very much. Her favorite spot to vacation was Seattle, where she spent time with her sister and brother-in-law, Dianna and Dave Sears. She loved the big city and at one time thought seriously about moving there.
Linda loved a beautiful yard as well. She always wanted it to be green and lush which of course required mowing. Linda would always remind Ken when this needed to happen!
Linda also loved cooking and baking. She found great joy in making meals and treats for her family! Most of her weekends were spent doing just that! She was amazing in the kitchen!
Linda was also a lover of animals. Among those were her dogs Sparky, Bailey, Tucker and of course her horse, Brandy. Linda loved to go horseback riding and attended rodeos with Ken to watch him team rope.
In May 2009, Linda gained a daughter-in-law as Josh married Kelly Mosher. They were able to bless Linda with two beautiful grandsons. Words cannot express what Ayden (2 years) and Kayson (7 months) meant to Linda.
She had many titles throughout her life including wife, mother and social worker. However, her favorite by far seemed to be that of grandma. Those two boys were spoiled, I mean loved, by their grandma!
Linda worked for 36 years at Ward County before retiring in 2012. Her job title included being the supervisor of Child Abuse Investigations. She enjoyed her work and found it to be an interesting challenge every day. Linda was enjoying retirement and every minute with Ken before she went to be with the Lord.
Linda is survived by: her husband, Ken, Minot; son, Joshua (Kelly) Heilman, Minot; two grandsons, Ayden and Kayson Heilman; brother-in-law, David Sears, Seattle; and numerous cousins.
Linda was preceded in death by: her father, Don; mother, Clarine; and sister, Dianna Sears.
