Bison receive 12 seed in NCAA tourney

The North Dakota State men’s basketball team received a No. 12 seed in the West Region for the NCAA tournament and will play No. 5 seed Oklahoma (23-9) in a second-round matchup in Spokane, Wash.

Game time will be 6:27 p.m. on Thursday at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, with the game scheduled to be broadcast on truTV.

NDSU (25-6) is making its second NCAA tournament appearance in school history after sweeping the Summit League’s regular-season and tournament titles. The Bison were seeded 14th in 2009 when they dropped a first-round game to Kansas.

The No. 12 seed for NDSU is the highest for a Summit League team since 1997 and ties for the second-highest seed ever for a league team.

The No. 17-ranked Sooners were bounced out of the Big 12 tournament with a 78-73 quarterfinal loss to Baylor on Thursday. Oklahoma rolled into the conference tournament with three straight wins.

The Sooners are making their second straight trip to the NCAA tournament and 28th overall.

NDSU rides a nine-game winning streak into the NCAA tournament.
