MSU drops final game in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz.- In its final game of the 2014 Tucson Invitational Games, the Minot State baseball team struggled to get things going offensively and made numerous defensive miscues.

The poor showing led to a 12-0 loss in seven innings to Westmont College (Calif.) on Sunday at Kino Sports Complex as the Beavers dropped to 6-7.

“We were flat and mentally I don’t think we came to the ballpark ready to grind it out today,” MSU coach Brock Weppler said in a press release.

MSU’s four errors led to four unearned runs for Westmont (15-11), which had 11 hits compared to MSU’s three.

The Beavers, who went 4-5 at the Tucson Invitational Games, begin Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Saturday at Upper Iowa.
