Jean Frances (Steenstrup) Grubbs, 80, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo.
Jean was born Oct. 19, 1933, to Henry “Harry” and S. Gail (Carr) Steenstrup in Minot. She attended local public schools and graduated from Minot High School. She went to finishing school at Stephens College, and later earned a teaching certificate at Minot State.
She married Clyde James Grubbs Jr. on Dec. 28, 1956. They both taught school in Michigan and in North Dakota before moving to Jamestown.
Her husband, Clyde, preceded her in death along with her parents and brother, Tom Steenstrup.
Jean enjoyed being called by her nickname, “GG”, which stood for Grandma Great as she would not admit to being a great-grandmother. She also had many hobbies, including painting and crafts as well as being an avid bowler, golfer and motorcyclist.
She is survived by: her two daughters and their spouses, Sarah (Ron) Rabideaux, of Frazee, Minn., and Theresa (Al) Haag, of Jamestown; grandchildren, Tina (Jason) Gaffney, Tony (April) Rabideaux and Becky (Scott) Hoselton, all of West Fargo, Tori (Mike Block) Rabideaux, of Detroit Lakes, Minn., Jody (Donnie) Fisher, of Painesville Township, Ohio, and Courtney (Andy Cook) Haag, of Jamestown; 10 great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Owen, Landon, Bella, Cullen, Skieler, Connor, Johnathon, Bryce and Drew; as well as her beloved dog, Addie.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
