Samuel Olson, Minot State University chemistry major and mathematics minor, will present “Inverse Modeling Problems Facing Chemical Kinetics,” at this month’s Math Talk at 5 p.m. in Model Hall 330. The talk is free and open to the public, and parking is unrestricted.

The Lord’s Cupboard Welcome Table food pantry: Fridays, 2 to 5 p.m., at 7-1st St. SE. The food pantry is also available Mondays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Wednesdays, 1 to 4 p.m., at 103-14th Ave. SW.
Boy Scout Troop 433 will host the “Loaves and Fishes Fish Fry,” an “all you can eat” tilapia fillet fish fry, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 707-16th Ave. SW, Minot. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. All proceeds will go to the troop to help with expenses for troop programs, projects and camping opportunities. Pre-purchased tickets are recommended, call for tickets at Chiropractic Associates, Dr. Steve Pederson, 720-20th Ave. SW. Phone 838-8000. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
The grand opening celebration for the Williston Area Recreation Center will be held at 4 p.m. There will be a short ceremony, then a ribbon cutting, followed by opening of the Williston ARC. Cookies, cake, food and refreshments will be provided and admission will be free of charge through Monday.

Relay for Life teams and committee volunteers are needed for the Relay for Life event. Interested persons are encouraged to attend a March 31 community meeting at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Riverside. The event will be held on the Minot State University grounds on June 20. Teams are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible so they can start fundraising. Minot Cub Scouts in Pack 404, which represents Perkett and South Prairie schools, will be holding a Scouting for Food Fill the Trailer event from April 20-24. Boys will be collecting food all week from their families and friends, and on Thursday will break into teams and canvass the neighborhood and collect food. A trailer will be parked outside of Perkett School, and the goal is to fill the entire trailer with food for those in need. A Friday celebration at Perkett will he held, with ice cream for all of the grades.
“Surrey Fish-Fry Friday” will be held Friday, April 11, at the Surrey Activity Center from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Fish, scalloped potatoes, corn, French bread, dessert and coffee/ lemonade will be served. Cost is $12 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 to 12. Children under 5 eat free. An Easter egg hunt will also be held on Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m.
The Minot FFA Alumni will hold their 18th annual auction on Saturday, March 29, at 11 a.m. in the Theatre Building of the North Dakota State Fair Center. Proceeds from the auction will go towards helping with travel expenses for the Minot FFA chapter to attend conventions, as well as scholarships for secondary education for qualifying FFA senior students. Anyone wishing to donate household or garage items for FFA to pick up, call Kathy at 839-5196 or contact any FFA alumni member.
