Linda J. Morlang
A memorial service was held Feb. 28, 2014, at the Yorba Linda Community Church, in Yorba Linda, Calif., for friends, neighbors and associates of Linda J. Morlang, 73, who passed away at home in Yorba Linda.
Linda was born in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Borghild (Berg) McCauley. She was raised in the Antler and Mohall areas of North Dakota and attended elementary and high school (Class of 1958) in Mohall. She worked in service-related jobs from South Dakota to Canada.
After graduation, Linda moved to Long Beach, Calif., in early 1963 and started working for StarKist Foods as a junior accountant. In October 1963 she married John Morlang, ex-Navy and working for McDonald-Douglas. They moved to Garden Grove, Calif., where they had the birth of their daughter, Rene, on Feb. 29, 1968. The family moved to East Anaheim, Calif., in 1969, where they had the birth of their second daughter, Michele, on Dec. 14, 1972.
Linda started working for H & R Block as a tax preparer soon after she and John divorced in 1975. Linda performed tax preparation and accounting services for Two Brothers Racing and Kevin Erion Racing until 1992. Linda had started her own tax preparation business in 1980, working out of her home in Yorba Linda. She later purchased an existing tax agency from her friend, Virginia. She became active in several tax preparation, accounting and investment organizations and eventually attained an Enrolled Agent (EA) status. Before her passing, she was the president of the CA regional EA chapter. She conducted seminars and taught classes on tax information and yearly IRS updates, which consumed a large portion of her time.
Linda became a very talented gourmet cook and joined clubs to prepare exotic foods for get-togethers and seasonal events. She also liked to travel and made many voyages by cruise ships on both coasts.
Linda was preceded in death by: her father and mother, Daniel McCauley and Borghild Brudvik; and stepsister, Barbara Robertson, formerly of Chepachet, R.I.
She is survived by: her brother, Daniel McCauley, Minot; daughters, Rene (Chris) Rogers and family, Concord, Calif., and Michele (grandchild, Kinsey) Morlang, Yorba Linda; and stepsister, Judy (Dick) Bachmeier, Mesa, Ariz.
Because of the suddenness and nature of her death, she was cremated at the direction of The Neptune Society of Orange County, Calif.
