Karen Messersmith, 77, Tioga, passed away quietly in her home on April 1, 2014.
Karen Lev (Leholm) Messersmith was born May 29, 1936, in Tioga, to Sigurd and Jorgine Leholm. She was such a beautiful person both inside and out and was loved by many. Karen and Robert made their home in Tioga in 1974. Karen’s love was her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandson, Ashton. She also loved working in her garden and planting flowers. Karen made the most beautiful flower arrangements with silk flowers. She worked at Tioga Medical Center as a prep cook for around 25 years and made the world’s BEST Rice Krispie bars.
Karen will be missed, but our memories of her will keep her alive forever. What a beautiful angel. May you rest in peace, Mom. We’ll love you forever.
She is survived by: her husband, Robert; daughters, Debi Messersmith, Williston, Patty (Doug) Berday, Estevan, Sask., Canada, Sandy (Todd) Shefstad, Lignite, and Bobbi Jo Messersmith, Williston; grandchildren, Shanna Shefstad, Sarah (Eide) and Scott Redpath, Kelsey Shefstad, Caitlin (Shefstad) and Derek Lindsey, Justin Eide and Ariel Eide; her great-grandchild, Ashton Eide; brother, Erling (Ione) Leholm, Crosby; sister-in-law, Sharon (Clifford) Russell, Los Angeles.
Karen was preceded in death by: her parents, Sigurd and Jorgine Leholm and her in-laws, John and Thelma Messersmith.
Her funeral service will be: Monday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Tioga.
Burial will be at United Cemetery, Tioga.
Visitation will be at the church Monday from 10:30 a.m. until service time.
