New Town’s Bell signs with Jimmies

New Town senior Symbria Bell has signed a letter of intent to compete for the University of Jamestown women’s cross country and track and field teams in the fall, the program announced Wednesday.

Bell is a six-time all-state selection for the Eagles cross country team. She finished second at the state meet in 2009 and 2012. Her best time in the 4k is 15 minutes, 20 seconds.

Symbria will be such an amazing addition to our distance crew,” Jimmies cross country and track and field coach Jim Clark said in a press release. “Not only can she run with the best of them, but she has an engaging personality and should fit in immediately. She is modest, dedicated, and her education is very important to her. I can’t wait to get started.”

Bell placed sixth in the Class B track and field state meet in the 3,200 with a time of 11:58.21 last year. She finished eighth in the 1,600 in 2011, running a 5:30.10.
