Grenora declines bond issue
Grenora voters said no to a $9.95 million bond issue for new school construction on Tuesday.
The vote was 108, or 55.3 percent, in favor and 87, or 44.6 percent, against the measure. A 60 percent or greater majority is required to pass a bond issue.
Voters said yes to incresaing the district’s debt limit by 5 percent with a vote of 100, or 51.2 percent, in favor and 94, or 48.2 percent, against that measure. A simple majority is required to increase the debt limit.
The bond issue would have funded construction and renovation of school buildings, including classrooms, locker rooms, gymnasiums and bathrooms.
