Beavers compete at Northern State Outdoor Open
ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Minot State men’s and women’s track and field teams combined to win nine events and freshman Tyler Bates won both the 200- and 400-meter dashes Friday in the Northern State University Outdoor Open.
The men’s team claimed three events. The other first-place finish came in the 400 hurdles with junior Tyler Flatland recorded a time of 56.44 seconds. The Beavers’ 400 and 1,600 relay teams each placed second.
The women’s team won the other six events. Junior Sienna Dailey won the 400 and classmate Erica Clark took first in the 800. Dailey and Clark were both part of the 1,600 relay that finished first with a time of 4:12.25. Also part of that relay team was freshman Mary Roy, who won the triple jump with a mark of 33 feet, 5 3/4 inches.
Senior Allie Helterbran claimed the long jump with a distance of 16-05.25.
The Beavers compete in the Gustavus Adolphus Open on April 26.

Souris Valley Golf Course set to reopen
A mid-April snowstorm didn’t keep the Souris Valley Golf Course closed for very long.
The 18-hole course is scheduled to reopen today, with all 18 holes available for play. Souris Valley Golf Course will host the Minot Invite on Monday.
Also reopening is Jack Hoeven Wee Links. The nine-hole course will open on Easter Sunday at noon.
