Flood repair checks coming

Some 20 to 30 residents who applied for a reimbursement of up to $10,000 for repairing their homes flooded from the 2011 Souris River flood will receive their checks soon. The checks are to be sent out Friday.

The first wave is for residents who completed the application process in full. Lori Williams, a program coordinator with Minot Disaster Recovery Services, said that there are several hundred more open cases for reimbursement and more of those applicants will receive a check once they fully complete the applicant process.

“People that applied and were not eligible for the program got a notification that they were denied,” she said in a prepared statement. “So if you’ve met with a case worker and they told you to bring more information back and you never received a denial, there is still a chance that you qualify and could get money back.”

While the program is closed to new applicants, those who already applied and have not yet been contacted should expect contact from CDM Smith, the company administering the funds, over the next several weeks.
