MHS girls soccer edges St. Mary’s

BISMARCK – Minot High peppered St. Mary’s goalkeeper Rachel Goettle with 19 shots on net Thursday, but needed just one goal to pull out a 1-0 victory.

Senior midfielder McKenna Hodenfield found the back of the net in the 53rd minute, with junior Taryn Love recording the assist.

“Our defense has played very well this year,” Minot coach Matt Pfau said. “Two straight shutouts on the road is definitely big.”

Minot junior Kaitlyn Stenberg turned away six shots as the Majettes improved to 4-0 and 2-0 in West Region play.

“She’s controlled everything that’s came her way this year,” Pfau said. “Very solid for us.”

The Majettes host Bismarck on Monday.
