Minot State University’s Northwest Art Center will host the Juried Student Art Show through May 8 in Hartnett Hall Gallery.
An opening reception for “Through the Dust-Colors of the West,” an exhibition of oil paintings by Trish Stevenson reflecting the vivid colors of the West and capturing the spirit of contemporary western lifestyle, will be held at the James Memorial Art Center in Williston on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit runs through May 31. The James is located at 621 First Avenue West. Gallery hours are Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Fridays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. There is no admission charge. The Taube Museum of Art has created a new monthly art class, “Art All Around,” geared towards children 9 years and older. The class is 1 1/2 hours, and costs $18 per child, which includes all the supplies needed to create their masterpiece. The last class will be Thursday, May 8, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Class size is limited for a more individualized instruction, so early registration is advised. Also, the Taube Main Gallery is seeking entries for its seventh annual Small Works Exhibit and Auction, and second annual Children’s Small Works Exhibition. The small works exhibition is scheduled to open June 12 and run through Aug. 7. Guidelines for the exhibits are available at

Normal museum and gift shop hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no charge for admission, but contributions are accepted to help the Taube Museum fulfill its mission of enriching lives through the visual arts.
