Marilyn Catherine Greenheck

Marilyn Greenheck, 85, Minot, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Trinity Homes in Minot.

Marilyn Catherine Johnsen was born Nov. 16, 1928, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Grinaker) Johnsen, in Kindred. She was raised and educated in Kindred and graduated from Kindred High School in 1946. She attended Moorhead State Teachers College in Moorhead, Minn., and taught at a country school after receiving her teaching degree.

She met Vince Greenheck while he was working as an agent telegrapher for the Great Northern Railway in Kindred. They were married on Aug. 12, 1950, in Fargo. Vince’s job with the railroad took them to Wheelock, Grace City, Karlsruhe and Surrey. Vince retired in 1988 and passed away in August 1993.

Marilyn resided in Minot for the past several years. Marilyn devoted her entire married life to being a wife and mother. She took great pride and joy in her children and grandchildren and loved to be there for them. You could always count on getting an invite when she was making her kettle of beef dumpling soup. She was famous for her kuchen and loved to share it with others.

Marilyn was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Minot. She did volunteer work for RSVP and the Souris Valley Humane Society, Minot.

Marilyn’s loving family includes: children, Paulette (Joe) Dailey, Tim (Sue) Greenheck, Julie (Steve) Verry, all of Minot, Jeff (Joleen) Greenheck, Liz (Mike) Wurzbacher, all of Fargo, Kristie (Dave) McCusker, Bismarck; grandchildren, Eric (Natasha) Thomas-Dailey, Luke Thomas-Dailey, Katelin Dailey, Corey (Jenna) Greenheck, Cammi Greenheck, Jessica Wurzbacher, Jerimiah Wurzbacher, Austin Greenheck, Quinn Greenheck, Andrew Verry, Collin Verry, Anna McCusker, Derrick McCusker, Jillian McCusker, Jenna McCusker; great-grandchildren, Colton Thomas-Dailey, Bridger Thomas-Dailey and Peyton Greenheck; brother, Carroll Johnsen; and brother-in-law, Jim Hanson.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vince; sister, Martha Hanson; son-in-law, Joe Thomas; and sister-in-law, Bernice Johnsen.

Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11 a.m., at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Today, May 2, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil prayer service: Today at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
