Minot Area Community Foundation awards $100,000 to Minot Park District
The Minot Area Community Foundation has awarded $100,000 to the Minot Park District, as part of the ongoing effort to rebuild the region following the 2011 flood. The funds will be utilized to construct a new amphitheater in Oak Park, as the current facility was destroyed by floodwaters in 2011.
This grant, along with the funds acquired from the Coca-Cola America is Your Park campaign, will ensure enough funding is available to move forward with the amphitheater project.
Following the flood, local donations to assist the community were channeled through the Minot Area Community Foundation. Over the past three years, the Foundation reinvested nearly $6.3 million back into the community to help directly with rebuilding efforts; more than $4.4 million in assistance has gone directly to 2,521 flooded homeowners. The Minot Area Rebuilding Fund is now in place to help the community with long-term flood recovery projects.
