Man falls to his death in Minot

A man working on the roof of a structure at 1220-27th Ave. NW in Minot slipped on a loose piece of plywood and fell to the ground four stories below at around 1 p.m. Monday.

Richard Rayburn, 48, Hillsboro, Ohio, was pronounced dead later that day at Trinity Hospital from the injuries he suffered in the fall.

According to the Minot Police Department, Rayburn was working on the roof when a strong wind blew up a piece of plywood. He struggled to gain control of the blown up piece but stepped on a loose piece of wood in the process and slid off the roof. He had been tethered while working but the incident took place right after he had taken off his tether to reposition himself.
