Surrey’s boil water extends through weekend

Surrey residents are under orders to boil their water through the weekend due to a water line break that led to low water pressure and a risk of organisms entering the water system.

The City of Surrey and Ward County Emergency Managment Office issued a statement Thursday afternoon that the city had located the water line break and would begin replenishing the water reserves. However, the city is required under health regulations to conduct water testing over two days to ensure the water quality is satisfactory. The city expects to have results of the testing early next week.

“Until we get the results, people will have to boil their water pretty much throughout the weekend,” county emergency manager Amanda Schooling said.

The city plans to release updated information once it becomes available.
