City construction project update

A portion of Sixth Street Southwest near Minot Public Library will close Wednesday for several weeks while work continues on the lift station and underpass improvements.

The City of Minot reports that Sixth Street will close between Central Avenue and Burdick Expressway. The Sixth Street back entrance to City Hall and the Minot Police Department will remain open until access becomes available again via Second Avenue, which could happen this coming week.

Other construction also will affect homes at the south end of 16th Street Southwest, beginning at 54th Avenue and progressing north to about 47th Avenue. Alternate access points will be available for homes accessed off 16th Street between those avenues. Homes will only be accessible from the north at the start of the project. As work progresses, access will become available from the south.

Other streets affected by road work in the coming week include:

13th Street Southeast will be closed from the south side of 31st Avenue to 37th Avenue, although 31st Avenue will be open. A gravel access will be maintained around the south side of the intersection of 37th Avenue and 13th Street for access to the Bluffs Addition.

37th Avenue Southeast will be closed from Second Street to 13th Street as work continues for several more weeks.

Work on the Roosevelt Park Sanitary Sewer Project will cause traffic to be reduced to one lane in each direction in the 1200 block of Burdick Expressway East.

Third Avenue Southwest will be closed from Sixth Street to Fifth Street, and Fifth Street will be closed from Third Avenue to Burdick Expressway for construction on a storm sewer replacement project that is expected to last a month. The Minot Municipal Auditorium parking lot will remain accessible from Fourth Street Southwest.

Work has re-commenced on the downtown parking structures. Detour and parking restriction signs are in place.
