Globetrotters Interview

Hi! My name is Kayley Skym, and I recently won an essay contest that earned me four free tickets to the Harlem Globetrotters game, plus souvenirs! So I had to go to the game at the Minot State University Dome to get all the stuff that I earned.

What I was most excited about was that I got to interview a Harlem Globetrotter! I interviewed Eric “Hacksaw,” which means “powerful donkey” and “power on the court.” He told me that after college, he received a workout with the team and had to go to training camp. He did a great job, so he was brought onto the Harlem Globetrotters team. Hacksaw had to do many things in order to become a Harlem Globetrotter. He had to be able to play basketball and go to PR (Public Relations) training. He also said that he never had a job before joining the Harlem Globetrotters. He graduated and continued to work with the Harlem Globetrotters. Hacksaw said his favorite part of being a Harlem Globetrotter is traveling the world.

After the interview, I got an official Harlem Globetrotters basketball and t-shirt! I asked Hacksaw to sign my t-shirt and he did! We left and said goodbye to Hacksaw. Then my family and I were trying to find our seats but we couldn’t! So we got a little help from the other winners. The games was really awesome and Hacksaw was really nice! I had lots of fun at the Harlem Globetrotters game.

But if you want to try and be a Harlem Globetrotter, then get lots of practice with basketball. Also, you may want to try and go to a trick class to do all the fun and crazy tricks that the spectacular Harlem Globetrotters do!
