Police seek high-risk sex offender

The Minot Police Department is requesting public assistance in locating Robert Thomas Baca, 48, who has both been seen and confirmed by an acquaintance to be in the Minot area.

Baca was originally charged with forcible rape and has an active, extraditable warrant from Detroit Lakes, Minn., for parole violation. Baca will also be facing local charges for failing to register as a sex offender upon arrival as is required by law.

Baca is described as 5-feet-7 with short red hair, hazel eyes and a tattoo of a four-leaf clover on his left hand.

Minot Police Department Capt. John Klug said that there have been reports that Baca has left the area but those cannot be confirmed. He has used his debit card at several Minot locations in the past two days.

Baca is considered violent and should not be approached by the general public. The police ask that anyone who sees him call them at 852-0111.
