Norwegian musicians to perform in Stanley

STANLEY – “Dalagutan, The Valley Boys from Norway” will perform at the Sibyl Center Tuesday at 7 p.m.

This dance band, on tour from Surnadal, Norway (between Trondheim and Kristiansund cities) was founded in 1980. When playing traditional Norwegian dance music “gammeldans,” dances like waltz, and polka, they play accordion and fiddle. When playing modern dance music, they play guitar, keyboard, bass and drums. Modern music the group plays includes swing, country, Norwegian hits, and music from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.

The band’s lineup includes Jostein Dnnem, guitar, from Surnadal; Ivar Olav Rd, bass guitar, from Sunndal; Atle Aanesbug, fiddle and keyboard, originally from Aure, now lives in Frei (by Kristiansund); Bjrn Johny Holten, accordion and drums, from Surnadal.
