Richard ‘Dick’ Schall

Richard “Dick” Schall, 75, Minot, died Monday, June 9, 2014, in Minot.

Dick was born Oct. 21, 1938, in Rolfe, Iowa, the son of William and Agnes (Elesser) Schall. He graduated from Rodman High School, in Rodman, Iowa, in 1957. He then entered the Air Force and served from 1957 to 1961. He married Edith Schatz in 1961 in Minot.

He started working for RLM printing in 1961 and purchased the business in 1976, at such time he renamed the business, Broadway Printing. This was a profession he enjoyed so much that he never retired.

Dick and Edith were charter members of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th Degree member. He served as state deputy for the Knights of Columbus from 1979 until 1981 and had held the position of administrative assistant of the N.D. Knights of Columbus since 1981. He was also a member of the Butte American Legion.

Dick is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Edith, Minot; children, Diane (Al) Horpestad, Minot, and Don (Debi) Schall, Minot; grandchildren, Breyette Schall and Courtney Schall; brother, Robert (Fay) Schall, Primghar, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Delores Schall, of Eldora, Iowa, Tillie Kuntz, Helen Weninger, Eleanor Boehm, all of Minot, Irene Stevens, Mazomanie, Wis., Isabel Karas, Glenwood City, Wis., Berna Schatz and Gerald (Eileen) Schatz, all of Bismarck. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, William and Agnes Schall; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Adam and Agnes Schatz; brothers, Thomas Schall and Donald Schall; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leonard and Clara Schatz; brothers-in-law, Michael Kuntz, William Stevens, Joseph Karas, Pete Weninger and Mike Boehm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be: Saturday, June 14, at 9 a.m., at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Vigil prayer service: Friday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Visitation: Friday, noon to 7:30 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
