Parshall group making sponsored trip to nationals
NEW TOWN – The Mandan-Hidatsa-Arikara Nation’s Energy Division is sponsoring a group of students from Parshall High School to attend national competition of the Future Business Leaders of America, June 27-July 3 in Nashville, Tenn. Acting Energy Division Director Carson Hood Jr. handed a $,2000 check to the students and their adviser, Kevin Turner, at the Energy Division Building on May 16.
Turner said this was the second trip for two of the students, Daniel Jarski and Kaska Weidman. Weidman took 7th place in the nation in Spreadsheet Applications last year.
The Parshall Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America dominated the State Leadership Conference this spring with a record nine students qualifying for a seat at the National Convention. The chapter competed against more than 50 FBLA chapters and more than 1,600 students at the state meet.
Those students who will be attending the national meet are: Daniel Jarski, junior, second place, computer applications, and third place, business plan; Cheyenne Packineau, junior, third place, word processing; Michelle Risan, junior, first place, computer applications; Kaska Weidman, senior, third place, computer applications; Justin Roberts, junior, first place, spreadsheet applications, and third place, business plan; Myles Odermann, junior, third place, business plan, and third place, spreadsheet applications; James Jarski, freshman, first place, virtual business challenge; Deyondre Simpson, no grade given, first place, virtual business challenge; and Justin Hart, freshman, first place, virtual business challenge.
In addition to the competitive events, the students will have the opportunity to attend workshops, business and tour colleges in the area.
