Minot drops weather-shortened contest

DICKINSON – The Minot Vistas’ doubleheader Monday at Dickinson lasted only 4 1/2 innings due to stormy weather. Dickinson won the shortened American Legion baseball contest 3-1.

Dickinson’s Alex Husphka scattered three hits over five innings of work and struck out nine to record the win. Minot’s Hunter Duttenhefer suffered the loss, giving up all three runs on four hits and four walks.

“Their kid threw well, obviously, with the nine strikeouts,” Vistas coach Todd Larson said. “Hunter did fine on the mound. We just need to have better focus, especially at the plate.”

The Vistas (5-8) scored their run in the top of the second before Dickinson answered with one run in the bottom of the frame and two more in the fourth.

Minot hosts Moorhead, Minn., today at 5:30 p.m.
