Jet Blue plane makes emergency landing in Minot
Jet Blue flight 597 from Boston to Seattle successfully made an emergency landing at the Minot International Airport shortly before 10 a.m. today. Prior to the landing pilots aboard the aircraft reported smoke in the cockpit and made the determination to divert to Minot.
Fire department and rescue personnel were standing by as the aircraft approached from the southeast. The plane landed without incident. No injuries were reported.
The aircraft was an Airbus A320 with a reported 132 passengers on board. After a short stay on the runway the aircraft was cleared to taxi to the terminal. The passengers remained on the plane while mechanics determined the source of the problem. Early indications were that mechanics were awaiting confirmation from Jet Blue before making any repairs. The extent of the repairs and how long it would take to make them was not yet known at 10:50 a.m.
