Park board places horticulturist on leave
The Minot Park District’s horticulturist was placed on paid leave Tuesday night after the park board met in executive session.
Steve Wharton will remain on leave for 30 days while a job performance review is conducted, park board member Connie Feist said Wednesday. The board hadn’t yet determined who would do the review or how it would be conducted.
Feist said the executive session had not been on the agenda but issues were brought to the board’s attention at the meeting that prompted the decision to close the meeting to discuss personnel matters. Wharton attended the meeting with a group of supporters.
Feist said there hadn’t been a decision yet about how to ensure that horticulture activities continue. She said there is the option of contracting for outside help if necessary.
