Bonnie Mahnke, 70, Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Stanley, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in Kansas City.
Bonnie Mae Mahnke was born May 17, 1944, in Minot, to Oscar and Martha (Tabbert) Holm. She grew up in Stanley and was confirmed in the American Lutheran Church. Bonnie graduated from Stanley High School in 1962.
She worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Minot and Minneapolis. Bonnie met and married Bud Mahnke in 1967. They lived in Minot, Aberdeen, S.D., Reno, Nev., Sioux Falls, S.D., and Kansas City, Mo.
Bonnie enjoyed spending time doing crafts, baking, painting and decorating her home. She loved to read and shop, but she enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren the most.
Bonnie is survived by: her husband, Bud Mahnke, of Benedict; son, Christopher Mahnke, Kansas City, Mo.; daughters, Rebecca Evans (Michael) and Angela Canovi (Scott), all Kansas City, Mo,; grandchildren, Devin Canovi, Amanda Canovi, Kayleigh Evans and Austin Evans; sister, Karen (Richard) Arndt, of Stanley; and numerous cousins, nieces, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Bonnie accepted life’s challenges and enjoyed its many blessings. Even though she struggled with health issues later in life, she never lost her sense of humor. She will be missed very much.
Funeral service is: Wednesday, June 25, 2 p.m., in the American Lutheran Church in Stanley.
Burial will be at: Fairview Cemetery, Stanley.
Visitation is: Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Springan Funeral Home, Stanley.
