Troy Mickelson, age 41, of Grand Forks, formerly of Rolla, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at his home.
Troy Steven Mickelson was born on March 27, 1973, in Rolla to Steven and Susan (Martinson) Mickelson. He was raised in Rolla, graduating from Mount Pleasant High School in 1991. He furthered his education at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, obtaining a BSN degree. Troy lived in Rolla and worked at Presentation Medical Center until moving to Grand Forks in 2006. Troy continued his career as a registered nurse, working at Altru Health System in the ICU, SCCU and ER. At the time of his death, Troy was employed as a flight nurse for Valley Med Flight. Troy met Jennifer “Jenn” Fayette and they were united in marriage on May 10, 2008. Together they had a daughter, Presley, on July 30, 2008. Troy enjoyed working as a nurse in Grand Forks, especially his work as a flight nurse. He loved the time that he spent with his family. Aside from being with his family, Troy liked to ride motorcycle, golf, do yard work, watch movies, listen to music and to read.
Troy will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, daughter, stepsons, mother, brothers, grandmother and many relatives and friends whose lives were enriched and blessed by his presence.
Troy is survived by: his wife, Jenn Mickelson of Grand Forks; daughter, Presley Mickelson of Grand Forks; stepsons, Landon Fayette and Keaton Fayette of Grand Forks; mother, Susan Mickelson of Rolla; brothers, Joel (Jessica) Mickelson of Grand Forks and Michael (Kelly) Mickelson of Rolla; grandmother, Lillian Martinson of Bottineau; nephews, Mason Mickelson and Tucker Mickelson; and mother- and father-in-law, Carole and Ron Fayette of East Grand Forks, Minn.
Troy was preceded in death by: his father, Steven Mickelson; and his grandparents, Rudolph and Velma Mickelson and John Martinson.
Funeral services will be held: Friday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rolla, with Pastor Scott Ramey officiating.
Burial will be: in the Apostolic Finnish Cemetery, Towner County.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Elick Funeral Home, Rolla.
