Pettit wins Audubon tourney
First-time competitor Jonas Pettit of Williston took top honors as the American Bass Anglers held their third tournament of the season June 21 at Lake Audubon. Pettit caught a limit of three smallmouth bass that weighed 7.32 pounds. First place paid $264.
“I’m amazed at the quality of bass in this lake. I had no idea North Dakota had bass of this caliber,” said Pettit, a former Montana resident.
Runner-up was Cody Arth, Bismarck, with 6.82 pounds. Third place went to Dick Roland, Crosby, 6.69 pounds. Cory Bosch of Mandan took “big bass” honors with a 2.92-pound smallmouth.
The next ABA tournament is scheduled for July 12 at Fort Stevenson State Park.
