Several July events set at Audubon National Wildlife Refuge

Among upcoming events scheduled at Audubon National Wildlife Refuge are Blue Goose Day, kayaking adventures and archery shooting. Blue Goose Day is a family event set for July 17.

According to Jackie Jacobson, Aubudon NWR visitor services manager, the focus of Blue Goose Day is to provide outdoor activities that educate youth and their families about wildlife conservation and outdoors skills. Four 30-minutes programs will be presented beginning at 5:30 p.m. and concluding at 8:30 p.m.

Programs scheduled are Build a Combination Nest Box/Bird Feeder, Archery Range, Exploring Animal Signs and Air Rifle Target Shoot. The Douglas Sportmen’s club will provide a picnic supper. Prizes and educational materials will be given to all youth participants. There is no charge or pre-registration for the event. In case of rainy weather, field demonstrations will be moved indoors where possible.
