Minot salvages split in St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minot Vistas managed a doubleheader split Monday, losing their first game before rebounding with a win in the nightcap.

Minot battled the St. Cloud Chutes – the seventh-ranked team in Minnesota – in the opener, losing 8-5. Leading 2-0 after two, the Chutes tacked on an extra six runs in the third to put the game out of reach for the Vistas with Chandler Jacob picking up the loss.

Grant Larson provided a late spark for Minot in the seventh, blasting a three-run home run as part of a four-run inning.

The Vistas responded with a three-run victory of their own in Game 2, a 7-4 win over the St. Cloud 76ers.

Larson was the only Minot player to register multiple hits, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Minot travels to Woodbury today for a 6 p.m. game against East Ridge.
