Minot Daily News recruits new managing editor

The Minot Daily News has begun the search for someone with an excitement for North Dakota and Minot to replace departing editor Bryan Obenchain, publisher Steven McLister said Wednesday.

These are challenging and exciting times for the region, and The Minot Daily News wants to continue to play a role in reporting that development, he said.

“The next editor will be someone with a love and passion for North Dakota, obviously having deep North Dakota roots, and someone who understands and embraces the changing dynamics of our business in connecting with readers,” he said. “I want to find someone who wants and demands the best of local coverage for the newspaper but who understands the awesome responsibility that reporting the issues carries.”

McLister said the newspaper offers best wishes to Obenchain, his wife, Cindy, and their family.

“Speaking for all the employees of The Minot Daily News, past and present, who have had the opportunity to work with Bryan over the years, we want to thank him for his service and the work he’s done for this newspaper,” he said.
