Tribal council rescinds resolution for pay raises
NEW TOWN Members of the Three Affiliated Tribes’ business council on Thursday rescinded a June 10 resolution that would have given council members pay raises.
The council members had approved pay raises at a special budget meeting held in June in Bismarck that would have boosted pay to $85 an hour for the chairman and $80 an hour for the council representatives.
After three tribal elders from Mandaree told council members at a regular council meeting on Thursday their objections including that the pay raises were done at a meeting held off the reservation, the council voted to rescind the resolution. The vote was 6-0, in favor of rescinding the pay raises. Barry Benson, Twin Buttes representative to the council, was not at Thursday’s meeting.
