WALTHER TO BE INSTALLED AS PASTOR OF MINOT CHURCH SUNDAY Pastor Nate Walther will be installed as the first full-time pastor of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Minot, on Sunday at 4 p.m. in Immanuel Baptist Church, 1615-2nd St. SE.

Walther grew up in Watertown, Wis. He graduated from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn., in 2010 and from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in May. His assignment at Grace is his first assignment with the exception of his internship at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Salem, Ore.

Members of Grace Evangelical Lutheran have been renting space at Immanuel Baptist for more than 10 years. An interim pastor from Bismarck has been serving the congregation.

PANCAKE BENEFIT PLANNED SUNDAY FOR MINOT MAN A pancake benefit is scheduled Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bethel Free Lutheran Church, 530-22nd Ave. NW, for Don Fennell, of Minot.

Fennell, a long-time mail carrier in Minot, has cancer. He is receiving radiation and chemo at this time and then will undergo surgery at Mayo. He has also organized the Postal Service Food Drive for many years and has been a Boy Scout leader.

A freewill offering for Fennell will be received at the benefit. People may also send checks made payable to Don Fennell to First Western Bank, P.O. Box 1090, Minot, ND 58702.

‘GOD LOVES UGANDA’ FILM TO BE SHOWN IN MINOT CHURCH “God Loves Uganda,” a film about the American evangelical movement in Uganda, will be shown Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Congregational United Church of Christ, 430 N. Broadway, Minot.

The film follows evangelical leaders in America and Uganda along with politicians and missionaries as they attempt the task of eliminating “sexual sin” and converting Ugandans to fundamentalist Christianity.

People are encouraged to bring a chair.

Snacks will be provided.

ANNUAL FRIED CHICKEN PICNIC PLANNED BY XYZ GROUP First Baptist Church XYZ, a senior adult ministry for people in the 50-plus age group, will meet Thursday at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church, 200-3rd St. SW, for their 26th annual southern fried chicken picnic being held indoors at the church.

A musical program will be presented by “The Master’s Plan,” recording artists from Bismarck.

The cost is $2 for the picnic. People are asked to also bring a salad or dessert to share.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL SESSIONS TO BE HELD IN TIOGA CHURCH First Lutheran Church, Tioga, will host vacation Bible school sessions July 20 to July 24. Upper Missouri Ministries councilors will lead the “Be Imitators of God” classes.

On July 20 worship, with UMM councilors, will be at 10:30 a.m. A potluck lunch will be at noon and registration for VBS will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Pre-schoolers will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. and youth in kindergarten through Grade 6 will meet from 1 to 5 p.m.

Classes will conclude on July 24 at 5 p.m. with a program presented by all classes. A potluck meal will follow.
