Mickey ‘Colleen’ Gray

Mickey “Colleen” Gray, 84, Mandan, left a life of gasping for every breath in her home to breathing the breath of heaven on July 10, 2014.

Mickey was born Aug. 9, 1929, to Kenneth and Agnes Knutson, in Wildrose. She was born two months before the Great Depression began so her family traveled a great deal to find work. This took them to many states.

Mickey married Ted Gray on April 1, 1950, in Minot. April Fools’ Day was the joke every anniversary.

They had five children: four boys, Steve, Jeff, Kevin and John, and one daughter, Paula. Steve died in 1995 of liver cancer. Mickey never recovered from the grief of losing her son.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her children. She read furiously, sewed, knitted and painted. Her water color art was a favorite gift to all of us.

She was welcomed in heaven by her son, Steve; her parents; two brothers; and her sister-in-law.

Her humor and quick wit will be greatly missed by her husband, Ted; her brother, Kenny; her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her cooking – not so much!

Love you mom, we will miss you forever and ever.

Funeral services will be held: Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Pastor Larry Jahnke officiating.

Burial will be: Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot.
