Christ Lutheran Church of Minot’s “Katie’s Kitchen,” a free soup kitchen: Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in Bread of Life Lutheran Church, 1415-17th Ave. SW.

Minot Horseshoe Club hosts games every Tuesday at 7 p.m. Events will be held at the Minot Moose Lodge horseshoe courts, 400-9th St. SW. Games played Thursdays if Tuesdays rained out. Men and women welcome. Price $35 each. Juniors play free. No teams, all play is individual. Celtic guitarist Jerry Barlow will perform a concert at the Minot Public Library at 7 p.m. Barlow brings traditional Celtic tunes alive by sharing the history, humor and legends behind the music. The program is offered free to the community by the Friends of the Library.

The Minot State University Summer Theatre group presents “Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” directed by Kevin Neuharth, at the MSU Amphitheater. All performances begin at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for students and seniors, $5 for children 12 and under, and $3 for MSU faculty, staff and summer students. Soup kitchens: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Immanuel Baptist Church, 1615-2nd St. SE, and from 5 to 6:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, 1000-3rd St. NE.

The Lord’s Cupboard Welcome Table food pantry is available Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. at 7-1st St. SE. The pantry is also available Mondays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m.

Minot State University will host a luau party at the North Dakota State Fair from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will be in the outdoor area of the Flickertail Gardens, and admission is free. Slamabama, a cover band that plays selections from country to rock, will begin performing at 6 p.m. There will also be drink specials and prizes. Habitat for Humanity-Northern Lights Chapter of Minot is currently seeking applications for its next “partner family” who will be eligible to move into a new house available this fall. The family must meet certain criteria including income, need of adequate housing, ability to make monthly house payments, be a resident of the Minot area, and willing to contribute 250 hours of sweat equity per adult. Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch will hold its annual Motorcycle Rally Saturday, July 26, with registration and departure from Pure Honda, 1520 U.S. Highway 2 E, Minot. The rally benefits the National Youth Project Using Minibikes. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with the run starting at 10:30 a.m. at Pure Honda. Cost is $20 per bike, which includes lunch and dinner. The ride route will encompass Minot, Bottineau, Granville and then back to Magic City Harley-Davidson, 515-20th Ave. SE, with stops along the way for prizes, food and a short presentation on NYPUM. NYPUM uses the bikes as incentives for the youth at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch to achieve goals and, in turn, teaches the youth how to care for and safely ride the off-road bikes. The Minot Salvation Army is accepting applications for Back to School Supplies from today through Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Complete an application at The Salvation Army Church, 315 Western Ave., Minot. Bring identification of each child and proof of residence, along with report card, with you at the time of application.
