Vistas fall in championship game

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Minot Vistas American Legion baseball team fell to Rapid City Post 22 by a score of 10-1 in five innings in the Pev Evans tournament championship game Sunday.

The Vistas (23-21) managed five hits after being no-hit by the Hardhats two days earlier during pool play. Alex Mack went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Grant Larson finished 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Rapid City scored a run in the first and tacked on five in the third and four in the fourth. Tanner Simons went 3-for-3 with three doubles, recorded four RBIs and scored three runs. The Hardhats’ 3-4-5 hitters finished 7-for-9 with five RBIs and five runs scored.

Minot coach Todd Larson referred to Post 22 as “the best team we have played this year.”

The Vistas travel to Fargo Post 400 today for a doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m.
