Minot man arrested on drug charges

A 25-year-old Minot man was arrested on felony drug charges on Friday afternoon following a traffic stop, according to a Minot Police Department press release.

According to the press release, police stopped Gabe Degroat Jr. at the intersection of 42nd Avenue and 11th Avenue Southeast at about 4:36 p.m. Friday for not displaying registration and for driving his motorcycle over the lawn at Jefferson Early Childhood Center. During the stop it was discovered that Degroat’s driver’s license was suspended and that he also had two outstanding warrants out of Ward County.

As the officer re-approached, Degroat started ingesting a white powder, which was later tested and found to be methamphetamine. Degroat was arrested for his third offense of driving under suspension, a class B misdemeanor, ingestion of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine), a class C felony, and two Ward County warrants. He is being held in the Ward County Jail.
