Dakota Square Mall Barnes and Noble is celebrating Disney’s “Frozen,” the highest-grossing animated film of all time, with “Frozen Friday: Cool Off with Olaf!” a sing-along and storytime event at 7 p.m. The store invites fans of Olaf, everyone’s favorite summer-loving snowman, to a sing-along of Olaf’s “In Summer” song, a special storytime, and crafts and activities such as a bag toss game, making a snow cloud and snowflakes so Olaf can go to the beach.

The 26th annual Great Tomato Festival will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the North Dakota State Fair Center’s 4-H Hall. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Social begins at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7. Live music will be performed by Dakota Dixie will a silent auction throughout the evening. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Must be 21 to attend. Proceeds benefit the Minot Public Library, Taube Museum of Art, Minot Symphony Orchestra and the Lewis and Clark Fort Mandan Foundation. Tickets are available at the Taube, the library, The Computer Store, Artmain and Artistry.

The Minot Salvation Army is accepting applications for Back to School Supplies through Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Complete an application at The Salvation Army Church, 315 Western Ave., Minot. Bring identification of each child and proof of residence, along with report card, with you at the time of application. School supply/backpack distribution is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 22, at The Salvation Army 315 Western Ave. For additional information, contact Casie Schaan at 838-8925.

The second annual Velva Volunteer Fire and Rescue Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, at Star City Golf Course, north of Velva on N.D. Highway 41. Registration begins at 8 a.m. for the 10 a.m. shotgun start. Tournament is open to the public. Cost is $200 per four-man scramble team. Prizes will be awarded to top three places.
