Phyllis Corinne Franklin Ayres, 85, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014, in Manvel, Texas.

Phyllis was born March 2, 1929, to Karen (Christiansen) and Elsworth R. Franklin, in Douglas. Her father died in December 1936 of pneumonia and her mother died 53 years later, also in December.

Divorced in 1974, Phyllis began her nursing home/hospital administrator career with positions in Wisconsin, including Homme Home for the Aged in Wittenberg, in Texas and in California. She also continued in the arts as a musician and singer whenever the opportunity presented itself. She performed many recitals with her dear friends Carol and Willys Folsom, of Wittenberg, Wis., and later, Sacramento, Calif.

After retiring in 1991, she lived with her son Tom, his wife, Susan, and their family for a year. The past 20 years or so, she lived with her daughter, Lea, and her children, Joshua and Nicole, and, at times, Andrea and Dani, and, in the past couple of years, with Lea’s new husband, Woody Chamberlain and daughter, Natalie.
