Lois Spielvogel

May 7, 1921 – July 30, 2014

MOHALL Lois Johnson Spielvogel, 93, Mohall, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at a Mohall nursing home.

Lois was born May 7, 1921, in Sioux Falls, S.D., one of four children born to John and Lula (Kohrman) Bahl. Lois attended and graduated from Mohall High School in 1939, and from Minot Teachers College in 1941.

On June 22, 1945, she married Lyle Johnson in a double wedding with her cousin, Clyde and Lillian Bahl. They lived and farmed in Grover Township, Renville County, rural Sherwood. Lyle died in September 1970.

She moved to Minot and attended and graduated from Cosmetology School in 1973. Lois married Myron Spielvogel in 1974 living in rural Minot. Myron died in July 1990. Lois moved to Somerset Court, Minot, in the summer of 2009 and to the Good Samaritan Society in Mohall in the fall of 2011.

Family: brother-in-law, Bob Shortle; nephews, Robert Shortle, Kent Shortle and Kirk Bahl; nieces, Pam Bingen, Jill Carpenter, Shari Eglington, Marcia Walljasper, Colette Kroeten and Renee Johnson; special cousins, Don Bahl and family, and Lillian Bahl and family; stepson, David Spielvogel; stepdaughter-in-law, Joann Spielvogel; step grandchildren, Jeff Spielvogel, Brian Spielvogel, Kelly Morelli and Penny Hanson; and step great-grandchildren, Kol, William, Lauren, Ryan, Mason, Ana, Mackley and Grace.

Lois was preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth Bingen Sylvester, Marilyn Shortle and Ronald Bahl; brothers-in-law, Rolf Bingen and Vern Sylvester; sister-in-law, Eleanor Bahl; niece, Jeanne Bahl Johnson; nephew, Mark Bahl; and stepson, Gary Spielvogel.

Funeral: Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at 10 a.m., at the Good Samaritan Society, Mohall.

Burial: Hamerly Cemetery, rural Mohall.

Visitation: One hour, prior to the service, at the nursing home.
