Sanford weight-loss surgery info session scheduled

Sanford Health is hosting a free weight-loss surgery information session from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Holiday Inn Riverside, 2200 Burdick Expy. E, in Minot. The event will be held in the Rhodes Room.

Sanford Health weight-loss surgeons Dr. Steven Bock and Dr. Bree Dewing will review the basic concepts of obesity, provide an overview of weight-loss surgery options and discuss requirements to be eligible for surgery.

Sanford Health in Bismarck is a nationally accredited Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center and a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center for bariatric surgery.

Western sites added to brain injury services meeting

BISMARCK – The N.D. Department of Human Services’ Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Committee has added two video conference meeting sites so that residents from western N.D. can attend the quarterly meeting today from 1:30 to 4 p.m. CDT.

The public is invited to attend at the individual meeting locations: Badlands Human Service Center in Dickinson and Northwest Human Service Center in Williston.

Other scheduled video conference sites include Lake Region Human Service Center in Devils Lake and North Central Human Service Center in Minot.

The meeting agenda includes updates on the services offered to people with brain injuries by the North Dakota Brain Injury Network, HIT Inc., and Community Options Inc.’s pre-vocational skills service that helps people with brain injuries explore jobs, develop job skills and to be prepared for work. The department will also provide an update, and committee members will discuss the study the N.D. Legislative Management’s interim Human Services Committee is conducting of a comprehensive system of care for people with a brain injury. The agenda is online at (www.nd.gov/dhs).
