Public advised of major exercise at Minot AFB
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE Officials at Minot Air Force Base are advising that because of a major exercise being conducted at the base beginning today that people may hear alarm sirens, loud bangs and smoke originating from the installation.
The exercise, conducted by the base’s 5th Bomb Wing, focuses on the ability to respond, survive and operate in a chemical, biological, radiological and/or nuclear contaminated environment.
The exercise will evaluate and validate the integration and response of emergency management, security forces, fire department, bioenvironmental and medical response in a simulated radiological terrorist incident on Minot AFB.
The exercise continues through Wednesday.
