The Lord’s Cupboard Welcome Table food pantry is available Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. at 7-1st St. SE. The pantry is also available Mondays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m.

Donations of school supplies will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Town and Country Credit Union, 615 S. Broadway. A bus will be located in the parking lot and Sunrise Rotary Club will be accepting your donations. Donations after today can be dropped off at The Salvation Army Church, 315 Western Ave., Minot. A Downtown Garden Party will be held in downtown Minot from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Must be 21 or over to attend. Tickets are $15 and are available at Delisimo Cafe, 122 S. Main St. Ticket includes a coupon/discount page from the following businesses: Lulu Lane, Rick’s Jewelry, Gourmet Chef, Mainstream Boutique, Oliver’s Attic and D’s Boutiques. Ticket price includes one complimentary drink (beer, wine or soft drink) and an assortment of appetizers.

The Taube Museum of Art, 2 N. Main St., hosts its annual Indoor Picnic and Small Works Closing Auction from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Nearly 150 original works of art have been on display since June and two-thirds of them have been sold or bid on thus far. There is still time to view and bid or buy it now on the remaining pieces throughout the evening of the closing reception. Online bidding is still open on the Taube’s Facebook page. The picnic will feature pulled pork sandwiches from Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw, corn on the cob, chips and desserts with a beverage of your choice. Picnic is free to members and open to the public with a free will offering.

The Minot Area Council of the Arts presents “At the Hop,” featuring the Treblemakers, 7 p.m., as part of the 2014 Arts in the Park series at Oak Park. Guests are Dakota Cruisers classic cars, root beer floats by Sons of Norway, and gyros and baklava by St. Peter’s. Admission is free to all regular events.

ASSOCIATIONS

The Ward County Historical Society will meet on Aug. 7 at 6:45 p.m. at Harmon House, in the Pioneer Village at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Surrey Senior Citizens will host a “Corn on the Cobb” feed to be held at the Surrey Activity Center on Friday, Aug. 22, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Menu is all the corn you can eat, plus smoked country sausage, baked beans, French bread, dessert, coffee and lemonade. Adults $10, children ages 6 to 12 $5, and under 6 are free.

The Minot Salvation Army is accepting applications for Back to School Supplies through Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Complete an application at The Salvation Army Church, 315 Western Ave., Minot. Bring identification of each child and proof of residence, along with report card, with you at the time of application. The second annual Velva Volunteer Fire and Rescue Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, at Star City Golf Course, north of Velva on N.D. Highway 41. Registration begins at 8 a.m. for the 10 a.m. shotgun start. Tournament is open to the public. Cost is $200 per four-man scramble team. Prizes will be awarded to top three places. The 26th annual Great Tomato Festival will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the North Dakota State Fair Center’s 4-H Hall. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Social begins at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7. Live music will be performed by Dakota Dixie will a silent auction throughout the evening. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Must be 21 to attend. Proceeds benefit the Minot Public Library, Taube Museum of Art, Minot Symphony Orchestra and the Lewis and Clark Fort Mandan Foundation. Tickets are available at the Taube, the library, The Computer Store, Artmain and Artistry.

The Give360 Color Dash 5k will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, at Roosevelt Park. The Color Dash 5k is an untimed, family-friendly run/walk to raise money for planning for a children’s museum in Minot. Color Dashers will start in white t-shirts and get pelted with color explosions as they pass through five different color zones along the Roosevelt Park trail. Registration is $40 for individuals, $35 for teams, and $85 for families. The event is hosted by Give360, a giving circle within the Minot Area Community Foundation.
