Missing man boarded train in Rugby

Minot Police said Wednesday that Floyd Dell Hayes Jr., 41, of Williston, who reportedly disappeared from the Town & Country shopping center parking lot in Minot on July 31, boarded an Amtrak train in Rugby en route to the East Coast.

Police said they received reliable information on Tuesday, indicating Hayes boarded a train in Rugby.

The person who contacted police said he assisted with the purchase of the ticket for Hayes. Hayes has made similar unplanned trips in the past and appeared to be medically stable to the person who had contact with him, police said.

Hayes disappeared from the parking lot while his wife was shopping inside Jo-Ann Fabrics & Craft. He had been last seen in a white 2003 Ford Expedition but was not in possession of the vehicle when he disappeared.

At this time Hayes is still listed as a missing person and will remain on that status until law enforcement has contact and confirms his well being and whereabouts, police said.

Initially a police report said Hayes boarded a train in Minot but corrected the report, saying he boarded the Amtrak train in Rugby.
