Man charged with DUI, reckless driving after crash

Minot police responded to a vehicle accident in the 1700 block of Valley Street around 10:45 p.m. Friday. A vehicle driven by 25-year-old Dennis Gichana of Minot was traveling at a high rate of speed into town on Valley Street before Gichana lost control.

The vehicle left the roadway and struck a parked semi-tractor in the Minot Welding and Gas parking lot at 1747 Valley Street. Minot Fire Rescue extracted the man from the vehicle and he was transported to Trinity Hospital. Gichana was charged with DUI and reckless driving, both class B misdemeanors.

Items stolen from Minot repair shop

A tractor and trailer were reported stolen from a Minot repair shop last Thursday, according to the Ward County Sheriff’s Office. A second break-in at the business occurred Sunday, but nothing was found to be missing.

Alley’s Radiator Repair in southeast Minot reported a burglary that resulted in a missing 2011 flatbed Dressen trailer. On the trailer was a Bobcat brand CT450 tractor with a bucket on the front and a box blade on the back. Total value is estimated at $45,000.

On Sunday, Alley’s again reported that a door had been broken.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate.

Police respond to burglary, charge woman

Minot Police officers responded to a call of a burglary in progress Sunday around 9:30 a.m. The reporting party stated he observed a woman in a red pickup stealing tools out of his storage unit. When he confronted her, she reportedly rammed his pickup while fleeing from the scene.

According to police, the caller followed the woman and gave Central Dispatch her direction of travel, but lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Jefferson Head Start.

Moments later, officers located the vehicle, unoccupied in the driveway of a residence. Officers located Karissa A. Arizola, 21, hiding behind a garage close to the unoccupied vehicle. Following further investigation it was also discovered the vehicle she was driving had been reported stolen earlier in the weekend, and also had other stolen property in her possession.

Arizola was arrested for several violations including burglary (C felony), possession of stolen property (C felony), possession of a stolen vehicle (C felony), criminal mischief (A misdemeanor), and unlawful use of a license plate (B misdemeanor). Arizola was transported to Ward County Jail.
