Larry Fulton

NEW TOWN Larry Fulton went to be with His Higher Power on Aug. 20, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held at Community Lutheran Church in Hill City, S.D. on Aug. 25, 2014, at 11 a.m, with Rev. Craig Wexler officiating, and at Bethel Lutheran Church in New Town, on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 at 11 a.m., with Larry’s nephew Rev. Nathan Mugaas, and Rev. Robert Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan at a later time.

Larry was born Oct. 11, 1942, at Minot to Ray and Florence (Walker) Fulton. They lived in Mohall and Kenmare, and in 1959 moved to New Town. He graduated from New Town High School in 1960 and from North Dakota State School of Science in 1962. Larry worked in Los Angeles for 10 months, and entered the Army Reserves in April 1964. He received an honorary discharge on March 27, 1970.

Larry married Ardis Mugaas on March 25, 1967. They lived in Williston, and Glendive, Mont., before moving back to New Town in 1972. Larry worked for his father until he bought Ray’s TV & Appliance in 1981. Larry was a volunteer on the New Town Fire Department for 30-plus years. There he served as assistant chief and then chief. He retired in 2013 and moved to Hill City. Larry was a member of the Community Lutheran Church in Hill City.

Larry loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially camping and taking them to the State Fair and the Norsk Hostfest. His favorite sport was NASCAR racing. He enjoyed watching racing on TV or in person at the racetrack. Larry also enjoyed getting together with the guys for coffee.

Survivors are his wife, Ardis Fulton; sons, Shawn and Jason (Julie); mother, Florence Fulton; sister, Barbara (Ron) Thielman; grandchildren, Quade, Drew, Alex, Gage and MaKaycee, and his dog, Bear. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray.
