Harold Verbitsky

Harold A. Verbitsky, 82, Hayward, Calif., formerly of Butte, passed away Jan. 5, 2014, at the Gateway Care Center in Hayward, Calif., where he had been a resident for several years.

Harold Verbitsky was born Jan. 19, 1931, near Butte, to Arson and Lula (Krupsky) Verbitsky. He attended school in Butte and graduated from Butte High School in 1949. He then began farming with his father.

In 1956, he married Roye Jane Okins in Max. They lived and farmed south of Butte until moving to Portland, Ore., in 1967 where he worked as a machinist at Precision Castparts Corp. In 1972, Harold relocated to the Bay Area of California where he worked at Lockheed Space and Missile until his retirement.

He is survived by his children, Mark Verbitsky, of Vancouver, Wash., Marcia (Art) Kester, of Cornelius, Ore., and Michael (Leslie) Verbitsky, of McMinnville, Ore.; sister, Pauline Johnson, of Hayward, Cailif.; and his former wife, Roye Jane, of McMinnville. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Brendan Verbitsky, of Sandy, Ore., and Micaela, Max and Noah Verbitsky, of McMinnville, Ore.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Butte Cemetery. Local arrangements are with Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home of Drake.
