Mark ‘Bach’ Bachmeier

March 20, 1962-Aug. 22, 2014

Mark Bachmeier, 52, Norwich, passed away Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Mark Anthony “Bach” Bachmeier was born March 20, 1962, the son of Anton “Tony” and Mary (Bachmeier) Bachmeier, in Minot. He was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1981.

Mark worked at Kmart for a time before starting his career with the North Dakota Department of Transportation where he put in 30 years of service.

In 1992, Mark moved to Norwich, and in 1996, he met the love of his life, Clarinda “Rinda.” Mark and Rinda were married in April 1998, on main street, in Granville, on McGillicuddy Day, where they had the privilege of being the first married couple of McGillicuddy City, USA.

Bach enjoyed the outdoors very much and was very passionate about hunting and fishing. He was an avid whitetail deer hunter and was very proud of his 5×5 drop tine buck which is hung proudly in his living room for anyone who came to visit to see. Mark loved taking family and friends out to his favorite hunting spots where lots of stories were told and memories were made. One of his greatest pleasures was being able to take kids on their first hunt.

Mark, along with his wife, Rinda, and best bud, Tom, were able to travel to beautiful Alaska, where they got the opportunity to fish for salmon, halibut, and were even lucky enough to have a successful bear hunt.

Mark also enjoyed the sport of auto racing and was a very dedicated Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. He also enjoyed the thrill of being on the race track and raced several enduros. He passed this on to his stepson, Chris, who he nicknamed “Putz,” which was meant with love, and loved like he was his own son. He truly enjoyed helping Chris and his friends get into the sport and would take parts out of what he called Bach’s boneyard, which was his collection of junk cars behind the trees at their home.

For many years, anyone who ran into Mark would notice that he was never alone. His “Lucky Girl,” which was Mark and Rinda’s yellow lab named, Lucky, was always only a few steps away. Anyone who knew Bach knew he wouldn’t beat around the bush with you and was always gonna shoot you straight but that’s what made Mark, well Mark. He had a contagious smile and even though he wouldn’t admit it, had a heart the size of North Dakota and would give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar if somebody needed it. He was always willing to be a friend if you needed it and was always willing to share a cold PBR.

Surviving family includes: wife of 16 years, Rinda Bachmeier, Norwich; son, Chris “Putz” Reuer and his fiancee, Laura Wolla, Minot; granddog, Knox; sister, Rebecca Movchan, Minot; nephew, Dustin Movchan; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
