Audubon ABA goes to Arth

Cody Arth bested steady rainfall and the field in winning the American Bass Anglers final regular season tournament of the year Aug. 23 on Lake Audubon. The Bismarck angler weighed in the winning catch of three smallmouth bass totaling 10.8 pounds. Arth’s largest fish was also the biggest of the day at 4.06 pounds. The day’s effort moved Arth into the lead for the circuit’s Angler of the Year title.

Paul Reinbold, Dickinson, was runner-up with a three fish limit of 9.56 pounds. Third was Dick Roland, Crosby, with two smallmouth weighing 6.6 pounds.

Arth’s winning formula was jerking a tube bait over the top of weed beds. His first win of the year was worth $294.

The ABA wraps up its 2014 season with a two-day championship on Lake Sakakawea out of Fort Stevenson State Park Sept. 13-14.
